throughout the process

Wax Injection

Wax in semi-liquid form is injected into dies using a semi-automatic hydraulic press to produce wax patterns, which are then 100% visually and dimensionally checked.

Wax Pattern Processing

Wax patterns are assembled to wax runner using wax gates and then wax runner is attached to wax pouring cup to make a cluster or tree.

Wax Assembly

Wax patterns are assembled to wax runner using wax gates and then wax runner is attached to wax pouring cup to make a cluster or tree.

Shelling

The wax assembly is dipped in ceramic slurries and sand, with extra coatings for strength, then heated to remove the wax, leaving a hollow ceramic shell.

De Waxing

The wax is then removed by de-waxing process, which is done by putting the ceramic mould in the hot bath of wax.

Shell Pre Heating

The ceramic shell molds are fired at 800 to 1100 °C to remove pattern material and preheat for casting, using Amtech's rotary hearth furnace with precise temperature control.

Melting

The shell is preheated to remove moisture and residual wax, and to sinter the ceramic. The specified alloy, melted in an induction furnace, is poured into the sintered shells to solidify.

Gate/Riser Cutting

After the metal solidifies and cools, the ceramic shell is then removed by vibratory methods or water blasting.

Heat Treatment

Castings are shot blasted to remove ceramic particles. Amtech also offers glass bead blasting or sand blasting upon customer request.

Finishing Operation (Gate Grinding)

Remaining gate protrusions are removed by belt grinding.

Final Casting Inspection

Castings are heat treated according to specifications in a 1-ton capacity furnace calibrated to APA 6A standards.

Dispatch

The final casting is dimensionally and visually inspected, tested as per customer specifications, packed, and dispatched.
